Some tourists might come to Tehran to see its historical attractions such as the Golestan Palace or the Masoudieh Palace. But Tehran is a city where you can find new and modern attractions besides the old and traditional ones. We’re going to introduce you to one of the newest attractions in Tehran which has become the contemporary symbol of the city after the Milad Tower or the Azadi Tower. It is the Tabiat Bridge.
It was in 2009 when the Abbas Abad Renovation Company announced a competition for designing a bridge in the north of Tehran. The design of Leila Araghian, who was also the co-founder of an architectural company named Diba Tensile Architecture, won the competition. The idea of this plot was to connect two parks, Ab-o-Atash and Taleghani Parks, together. Therefore, the construction started in 2010 and took 4 years to complete.
The bridge is located over a large highway, so the construction was a big challenge. However, today you can see what a great view it has over this highway. The Tabiat Bridge is the largest pedestrian overpass in Iran which is 270 meters long and consists of two floors. It also has 40 meters height. Moreover, the bridge is so resistant and won’t crack even with a 7-Richter earthquake. The Tabiat Bridge has won several awards and has become one of the major tourist attractions of Tehran.
This bridge is not just a way to pass through one park to another park. However, it is so enjoyable to do so. But there are several other things you can do in Tabiat Bridge:
ost people come to this bridge to see the beautiful view of the mountains, even watching the cars passing under your foot is so enjoyable.
The bridge is situated between two parks. Hence, if you are a nature lover you can visit two lush and green parks in one day. Ab-o-Atash Park is one of the most popular parks in the city. Most people come here to enjoy their times in the evenings or do exercise in the mornings. There are so many cafes in this park too. Therefore, it is always crowded, especially at the weekends. The closest hotel to this attraction is the Pariz Apartment Hotel which is just 2 km away and can be reached in less than 10 minutes.
If you like to see the sky and its stars, you can reach one of the biggest Planetariums of the middle-east at the walking distance from the Tabiat Bridge. Tehran Planetarium, which name is Gonbad-e-Mina, is just 650 meters away from this bridge. It will take less than 10 minutes to walk there. However, you are walking into another park whose name is Norooz Park. Hence, it will be another enjoyable walk. One of the features of this planetarium is its observation in the open air. You can see 2ds and 3ds films about the world in the salons of this place.
There are several ways to get to the Tabiat Bridge. If you would like to take public transportation, the nearest metro station to this attraction is Shahid Haghani metro station which is right in front of Taleghani Park. You can walk to Taleghani Park from this metro and then pass the bridge to Ab-o-Atash Park. But if you would like to take a taxi, you should first go to Vanak Square. If you are staying in any hotels in Valiasr Street, such as Seemorgh Hotel or Melal Hotel Apartment, you can take a bus to this square and then easily take a taxi to Ab-o-Atash Park.
