Brief History about National Jewelry Museum of Iran
National Jewelry Museum of Iran consists of a collection of royal pieces of jewelry from different periods of history. It was during the Safavid era that the Royals started to collect the precious gems that belonged to the history of Iran. They also bought some of the items from India, Ottoman and European countries such as France and Italy. But they gathered in Isfahan, as the city was the capital of Iran during that period.
When the Afghans attacked Iran, they took lots of the gems. However, Nader Shah Afshar could bring lots of them back to Iran from Afghanistan and India. But when Nader died, one of his commanders looted the treasury. However, until now there are still lots of Iranian treasures which have never taken back to this country.
